The Amorim Cap Classique Challenge, now in its 23rd consecutive year, continues to be the premier competition for Cap Classique in South Africa. Sponsored since its inception by Amorim Cork, a world-renowned cork producer with over 150 years of expertise, the 2024 competition saw 131 Cap Classiques entered, making it one of the most competitive yet. The entries were judged by a highly esteemed panel of experts, ensuring only the very best were recognized.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Villiera Monro Brut 2017 was awarded the Trophy for Best Blend—a particularly significant honour as this was the most entered category of the year. Monro Brut a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, delivers a refreshing flavour on the middle palate developing finesse and complexity on the aftertaste. It is made with maturation potential in mind and will continue improving for up to 3 years.
Additionally, Villiera Tradition Brut NV, our maiden Cap Classique first released in 1984, was awarded a Double Gold (95 points-plus). This recognition cements Villiera’s reputation as a leader in crafting exceptional Cap Classiques for the past four decades.
